The Atelier du Temps Passé was founded by Annette Douay in the early 1980s at Faubourg Saint Antoine, in the heart of the artisan’s quarter, specializing in restoring paintings and polychrome art objects.
It was in 1999 when the Atelier relocated to the Viaduc des Arts (a former train line converted into a series of workshops dedicated to highly skilled artisans) in an atelier of 250m2, equipped with the latest technology, and the ability to acquire paintings of all formats, as well as their frames.
In response to the needs of a public and private clientele, national and international, the services of the atelier progressively developed with the help of specialized collaborators selected for their unique abilities and skill offering: Wood Restorer/Ebonist, Frame Restoration (gilded or patiné), specialist of canvas support (rentoilages and linings), new technologies for the treatment of modern and contemporary works of art, both classic and innovative techniques are successfully implemented in order to care for all paintings, from historic to contemporary, small to large, of any medium, and presenting the need of any type of alteration, from the simplest to the most complex.
It was in 2015 with the new arrival of Valérie Tixier that the Atelier du Temps Passé hit a new stride, further developing the restoration of graphic artworks, customized frames, and conservation.
Since the 2017 collaboration with the Laboratoire d’Archéologie Moléculaire et Structurale (LAMS), the university laboratory helps provide the service of expertise in painting and framework materials and authenticity research.
The Atelier du Temps Passé is at your service for all conservation and restoration needs.
